Darren initially joined the Navy Reserve program and moved into leadership quickly during boot camp where he earned the award as the Honorman of his unit.

Shortly after that in order to provide more efficiently and be with his family he transferred full time into the US Army in which he spent 3 years in Virginia and Frankfurt, Germany.   During that time he obtained the rank of Specialist (E4P) and received awards for things such as firearm's marksmanship, mechanic of the quarter, driving and good conduct.

 

Law Enforcement and Deputy Constable Experience 

Towards the end of his military enlistment, Darren felt a calling to serve his community as a Phoenix Police Officer. While home on leave, his recruitment was expedited, and he was hired shortly after leaving active duty.

Darren went on to serve nearly 29 years with the Phoenix Police Department, earning numerous awards and commendations, including the prestigious Police Chief’s Unit Award.

Throughout his career, he held a wide range of critical assignments:

  • Patrol Officer – Served on the front lines, protecting and responding to the needs of the community
  • Field Training Officer – Trained and mentored new officers graduating from the academy
  • Community Action Officer – Built strong partnerships with residents, business leaders, and other agencies to improve neighborhoods
  • School Resource Officer – Worked closely with elementary and junior high students to promote safety and positive relationships
  • Property Crimes Detective – Investigated burglary, theft, and criminal damage cases
  • Assaults Detail Detective – Investigated serious person crimes including aggravated assaults, shootings, stabbings, stalking, and harassment
  • Fugitive Apprehension Investigation Detail – Partnered with U.S. Marshals and FBI task forces to locate and apprehend wanted felons, coordinating extraditions across the United States and internationally
  • Joint Terrorism Task Force (FBI) – Conducted national and international terrorism investigations and provided dignitary protection for U.S. Presidents, Cabinet members, and world leaders

After retiring from the Phoenix Police Department, Darren continued his commitment to public service by joining the Maricopa County Constable’s Office, where he has served as a Deputy Constable for the past six years.

His extensive experience in legal compliance and community engagement made this transition seamless. In his current role, he serves court orders, executes writs of restitution, and assists Constables countywide in high-risk and volatile situations. His deep understanding of legal procedures and administrative requirements ensures every action is carried out professionally and lawfully.

Beyond enforcement, Darren is committed to helping people in difficult situations. He works closely with community outreach organizations to assist families facing eviction—helping them understand their options and connect with resources for their next steps.
